We wish to say a huge “well done” to all our athletes for raising their game in the final last night.
Camberley A team was 1st as expected and Reigate was 2nd but we were much improved from our 4th place last year.
Our YAC A team came 3rd with a score of 1855 which was 140 points better than the qualifier and the B team came 6th which was also an improvement of over 100 points from the qualifier! There were lots of PBs and improved performances from so many of you!
Amongst the YAC athletes, 12 achieved Gold Standard for their total points score vs in the qualifier where only 4 athletes achieved gold.
In our girls A team, Tilly was ranked 2nd overall with Eliza and Isla Miller 5th and Eva 7th overall.
Mats came a creditable 7th overall in the boys.
Tilly ran the fastest 75m of all the girls in 10.5s and Mats was the fastest boy overall with a time of 10.2 for 75m!!
Eva ran 10.7s and Leo ran the same time in the 75m.
Great job from the sprinters!
There were great runs over 600m with several athletes improving their times by seconds; Mats ran 1.51mins Oliver ran 1.52mins and Eliza and Tilly on 1.52 and Leo back on form with 2.03.
A special well done to Susie Lecoutre for her 1.56min over 600m which was run with great confidence – she is also one of our younger competitors!
In the standing long jump, Daisy Little jumped an outstanding 2.10 which was the top jump from any athlete boys and girls and even beat the Camberley athletes who were told to land on their toes to get extra distance! She was closely followed by Isla Miller who jumped 1.98m and Tilly on 1.94m. Good job girls.
Daisy also deserves the award for literally going that extra mile for YAC by leaving her holiday on Isle of Wight to get to the competition and then having to leave Spectrum to get the ferry back again to continue her holiday!! Enjoy the rest of the sunshine on I of W Daisy and family.
Our outstanding throwers were Alistair Platt with 33m, Jake Rumble with 32.75m Eliza who threw further than many of the boys with 29.50m and Joe Carpenter on 29.20m.
Our youngest competitor Freddie Deegan had brilliant scores across all his events and added 12 points to his score from last time.
Adam Thackstone also pushed up his score by 25 pts to a super 216 from 191 last time.
I want to mention everyone but you all did an excellent job last night and our reserves too deserve a well done for massive improvements in their scores; Henry Moodie on 212 points for silver and Bryony Bovell who clearly shone last night with a 192 for gold standard.
We look forward to seeing many of you in our Summer Camp next week and we wish the others well for a lovely Summer holiday.
Enjoy your break. We trust we will see most of you back again in the Autumn!
Finally thanks to our coaches again last night for their commitment, for helping with all the scoring and time keeping and for supporting the team and staying to the end to tidy up!
Thanks as ever to Gillian for managing the score system helped by Jean and to Stephen for overseeing the event.
As ever, it was YAC who lead the way in terms of organisation for this series of meetings.
Well done to YAC on all fronts!
