2013 Cross Country Competitions

YAC will be participating in the Border League Cross Country competitions again this year.

Here is a copy of a letter from Head Coach, Virginia, explaining what is involved.  Please email Jane (secretary@yac-admin.co.uk) if you would like your child to participate.

Dear Parents,

We wish to invite your child to compete for Young Athletes Club in the Border League cross countries.

We have 4 races over the winter.  The first one is on Sunday 3rd November 2013 after half term.

Please let us know if your child wishes to compete in the following;


Sunday 3rd November 2013                        at Lord Wandsworth hosted by Fleet & Crookham AC

Sunday 15th December 2013                      at Stoke Park, hosted by Guidford & Godalming AC

Sunday 2nd February 2014                           at Farnham Park hosted by Aldershot, Farnham & District

Sunday 2nd March 2014                                at Lightwater Country Park hosted by Bracknell AC


Race Details & Timings

  • All matches to be on Sundays, with the first race at 11am
  • There will be separate races for all age groups, boys and girls
  • Times, order of races and guidance on distances are as follows:


11.00 am

Under 9 Girls Maximum 1400m

11.10 am

Under 9 Boys Maximum 1400m

11.20 am

Under 11 Girls About 1700m

11.35 am

Under 11 Boys About 2500m

11.50 am

Under 13 Girls About 2500m

12.05 pm

Under 13 Boys About 3000m

12.20 pm

Under 15 Girls About 3000m

12.35 pm

Under 15 Boys About 4000m

Parent Helpers

We would also like to hear from parents who are attending the races and who may be interested in helping

Sue Goode and Bea Lafreniere our Young Athletes Club team managers to organise the children.

This involves helping them with the usual pre-race support such as pinning numbers on vests, helping with warm ups and cheering them on!
