P&G Woking Schools Championships Final on 30th June

The final of this event, which marks a month to go to the Olympic Games, took place at West Byfleet Junior School on 30th June.  Teams from the 8 schools who qualified for the final battled it out in an exciting and enjoyable competition.

The event opened with a parade of the young athletes marching behind a real Olympic Relay Torch which was brought to the event by Chief Inspector Penny Mills who is part of the security team for the Torch Relay when in comes to Surrey later this month.

The event was won by the hosts West Byfleet Junior School with St Paul’s Addlestone and Goldsworth Junior schools in second and third place.  The magnificant trophy, sponsored by P&G, was presemted to the winning tem by Councillor Ian Eastwood who worked tirelessly all afternoon presenting medals to the individual winners of each event as well as medals to the top teams.

Lots of photographs to record the event were taken by several photographers and we will be publishing a gallery of pictures on this site in the next day or two.

In the meantime the results are available  here.

A big thank you goes to the Sponsors, P&G and Celebrate Woking, for enabling this great event to take place.  Also to West Byfleet Junior School for providing an excellent venue for the qualifying rounds and for the Final.
